Wayne Johnston discusses the writer’s life and craft. Wayne’s 1st novel, The Story of Bobby O'Malley won 1985’s W.H. Smith/Books in Canada First Novel Award. His 2nd novel, The Time of Their Lives, won the 1988 Air Canada/Canadian Authors Association Award for Most Promising Young Canadian Writer. The Divine Ryans was awarded the 1991 Thomas Head Raddall Award, and adapted to the screen. His other novels include 1998's international bestseller The Colony of Unrequited Dreams (winner of New York Public Libraries Prize for Best Novel), and The Navigator of New York (shortlisted for the Giller Prize and the Governor General's Award). Wayne is also a recipient of the Charles Taylor Prize for literary non-fiction, and the Writers' Trust Engel/Findley Award in recognition of his contribution to Canadian Literature.
