Author Kaie Kellough thinks a lot about narrators, about how every story is narrated from a perspective. That perspective may determine what the narrator sees and what they don’t, and may influence the version of events they recount. Kellough’s interested in how writers construct their narrators, the back-stories they tell themselves about the lives of their narrators in order to better understand them. Kellough’s curious about the various cultural, class-based, and other “”locations”” of the narrator, about the hierarchies they inhabit, about the subtle ways of revealing these positions and about how these positions inflect the story. Where does the narrator reside in relation to the story?

The Humber School for Writers returns to the Festival with a series of daily professional writing masterclasses led by its renowned faculty members and special guests. Each 90-minute class will be presented virtually and will focus on a specific aspect of writing craft. Sign up for one or attend them all! All writing levels are welcome.
