ABOUT THE 2025 EDITION
Time, The Tree, The Page
The Blue Metropolis Festival brings together Time, The Tree, and Literature for its 27th edition, proposing an exploration of patience, transformation, and the delicate balance between nature, culture, and humanity. The Tree, a silent witness to centuries, embodies both the patience of time and the memory of the world. "Trees are their own language; it is their form that speaks, their entire form that carries their meaning," writes Alexis Jenni, inviting us to reflect on our relationship with time, literature, and the environment.
Time slips away, accelerates, is wasted, and savored. It is both a threat and a promise, urgency and contemplation. It shapes nature as much as it shapes our lives. Writing takes time; reading does too. Could time be a gift we give ourselves?
Once more, public discussions, roundtables, debates, readings, master classes, and podcasts will provide a rich display for both authors and the public to enjoy.
-----
The Blue Metropolis Festival is one of the largest multilingual literary events in North America. Each year, writers from Quebec, Canada and around the world converge on Montreal for a couple of days. Festivalgoers are treated to live interviews, roundtable discussions, public readings, debates, master classes, reading and writing workshops. Every year, the Festival is structured around several strong themes that bear testimony to a keen social awareness and to a passion for literature in all its richness.
Key moments throughout the year to bring together children and parents
The TD-Blue Metropolis Children’s Festival now runs all year long, with events in schools, libraries and bookstores near you, or online. Meet and greet with children’s authors will be offered during the 2025 Spring Edition of the Festival.
