Join fiction writer Arjun Bedi for the launch of his debut book 'The Blood of Five Rivers' , w/ special guest, award-winning author, Anuja Varghese, author of 'Chrysalis'. The event begins at 6:30pm, and features reading, q & a, and book sales and signing. About The Blood of Five Rivers is an intergenerational saga narrated by Nanak, the son of Kaka. In relating the tale of Kaka’s life, Nanak attempts to integrate his father’s experiences with his own, trying to make sense of how the most formative events of a person’s life can later manifest in the most peculiar ways. The Blood of Five Rivers employs an experimental form that intricately weaves a family saga with elements of historical fiction, philosophical inquiry, and literary analysis. Chrysalis is the 2023 Governor General's Literary Award Winner, and the Winner of the Writers Trust Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ2+ Emerging Writers. Genre-blending stories of transformation and belonging that centre women of colour and explore queerness, family, and community.
