Access Copyright Extends Canadian Writers' Emergency Relief Fund With $100,000 Donation

These days, any good news is a welcome distraction. And for Canadian writers affected by the Coronavirus outbreak, this is good news indeed!

A generous $100,000 donation from licensing organization Access Copyright Foundation has extended the Canadian Writers Emergency Relief Fund into a second round. Initiated as a joint venture between The Writers' Trust of Canada, The Writer's Union of Canada, and Royal Bank, the fund provides emergency financial relief for Canadian writers who have lost over $1500 of income between March and May of this year as a result of COVID-19. The deadline for new applicants was intended to expire Friday, but will now continue through April 20 and be available to visual artists as well. The fund's first grants will be delivered this week.
