Breaking Book News: Ownership of Second Story Press Transferred by Margie Wolfe
Today, long-serving publisher Margie Wolfe announced that she would be transferring the ownership of Second Story Press to general manager Phuong Truong, who has been with the press for twenty years. The press has been a fixture on the Canadian literary scene for nearly four decades, and has an established legacy of promoting Feminism and Social Justice with its published works.
In the official press release by Second Story Press, Wolfe said the following about the change in ownership:
“I can hardly believe that I am telling you I will no longer be at the helm of Second Story Press. I have transferred ownership of the company to Phuong Truong who has been our General Manager for twenty years. I trust her to guide the company as its Publisher in a way that respects and also enhances its history and its vision. And who will also bring her own priorities and perspectives to the work."
Wolfe also added that she would still be involved with the press, mainly in acquiring titles, focusing on international rights, anti-hate and socialjustice special initiatives, and overseeing a portion of the list.
For her leadership in the publishing industry and beyond, Margie Wolfe has received recognition and awards, including from the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, the Association of Canadian Publishers, the National Jewish Book Awards, and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. Recently, she was inducted into the Order of Canada, where she accepted the honour with Truong.
