Canada Reads Announces 2020 Longlist: Billy-Ray Belcourt, Megan Gail Coles, Stéphane Larue Among Those Included
CBC Books has released the longlist for its annual Canada Reads competition, and this year is stacked with powerful books from Ontario indie publishers, including Billy Ray Becourt's NDN Coping Mechanisms (House of Anansi); Megan Gail Cole's Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club (House of Anansi); Terri Favro's Sputnik's Children (ECW); Carla Gunn's Amphibian (Coach House Press); Stéphane Larue's The Dishwasher (translated by Pablo Strauss, Biblioasis), and Hassan Ghedi Santur's The Youth of God (Mawenzi House).
Centered around the theme "one book to bring Canada into focus", the event takes place March 16-19, 2020 and will be hosted by actor/comedian/CBC personality Ali Hassan. Those interested in watching or listening to the debates can tune into CBC Radio One, CBC TV, CBC Gem or log on to CBC Books to catch the action live.
Ticket information will be announced on January 22nd.
