Sports & Music: Kids Chasing Dreams: Book Launch

Readers of all ages are invited to celebrate with authors Lorna Schultz Nicholson and Jean Mills as they launch their new Middle Grade novels at A Different Drummer Books in Burlington, Ontario, on Saturday, November 2 at 1 p.m.

Lorna, author of the 2021 award-winning TAKING THE ICE (Scholastic), returns to the hockey world with STOPPING THE SHOTS (Scholastic), which follows a young goalie as he faces challenges that affect his relationship with his family and, possibly, his sports future.

Jean, author of the 2019 Red Maple Award-nominated SKATING OVER THIN ICE (Red Deer Press. Yes, music and hockey.), returns to the music world in AFTER THE WALLPAPER MUSIC (Pajama Press), which features a talented violinist who is pulled in three different musical directions and must navigate uncertainties about friends, family, and her own musical dreams.

Lorna and Jean will kick things off by interviewing each other before giving a short reading from their books. That’s followed by a book signing, draw for door prizes, yummy treats, and lots of opportunities to chat.
