“The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever”: Literary and Movement Arts Event
Scarborough Poetry Club
Anna Nieminen - scarboroughpoetry@gmail.com
Let’s gather together at Unique Books bookstore in Scarborough, ON, for a hybrid literary and movement arts event and take part in the 8th annual global “The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever” celebration.
We will celebrate Emily Bronte's and Kate Bush's birthdays, Emily's classic novel and poetry, and Kate’s 1978 “Wuthering Heights” song and music video (red outfit version).
We’ll begin with some poetry appreciation by discussing two poems by Emily Bronte that relate to themes in her Wuthering Heights novel, followed by reviewing the lyrics of Kate Bush’s song. Then we’ll turn to practicing the upper body movements of a portion of the dance choreography while seated in our chairs, followed by re-enacting the dance. Participate according to your own preferences and abilities. Feel free to observe only. Wear a red outfit (or not). After some brief comments about the Moors for the Future Partnership's work on restoration and conservation of the moorlands, we'll have time for conversation and browsing in Scarborough's new, independent, cozy bookstore with its hand-picked selection of used, vintage, antiquarian and rare books.
Who knew
there’s a moor
on the bookstore floor?
