The Odyssey is one of two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer.
It is one of the oldest extant works of literature still widely read by modern audiences. As with the Iliad, the poem is divided into 24 books. It follows the Greek hero Odysseus, king of Ithaca, and his journey home after the Trojan War. After the war, which lasted ten years, his journey from Troy to Ithaca, via Africa and southern Europe, lasted for ten additional years during which time he encountered many perils and all of his crewmates were killed.
There are numerous versions of this text, please read whichever one speaks to you the most.

The Literary Escapism Book Club is for people who enjoy classics and cult favorites.
This club is a relaxed and inclusive space. We will meet once a month for book discussions over coffee or brunch.
This club is open and welcoming to all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, ages, and abilities.
A small donation of $2/month or $24/year is requested to cover the Meetup website subscription costs. Payments are accepted via cash or you can message me directly if you would like to e-transfer.
