The Next Chapter Festival

The Reading Partnership unites families, community partners and supporters to create joyful, engaging experiences that inspire children to discover the power of reading. The Next Chapter Festival is a prime example of this, transforming Scarborough Town Centre into a vibrant hub for children’s literacy with live readings, music, free books and unique experiences—including our signature Book Mobile and the sensory-friendly Snooze Room. It is also the perfect opportunity for families to get a taste of our various year-round programs. Every experience is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence and foster a lifelong love of reading because every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and imagine what’s possible.

Join us for our third annual festival on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Scarborough Town Centre. From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the festival will be packed with a full day of programming designed for all ages. This year’s celebration will feature dynamic live performances from special guests, including renowned storytellers, local authors and musical acts, along with interactive literacy workshops and our free book giveaways. We invite you and your family to celebrate literacy, creativity and community pride with us.
