CBC Announced Canada Reads 2024 Longlist

Today CBC Books announced the 15-title longlist for the 23rd edition of their book competition show, Canada Reads, which will take place March 4-7. Five panellists will select a book to champion from the longlist, creating the shortlist that will enter the four-day debate show, in which panellists defend their chosen title and vote off their competitors. One book is voted off each day until a winner is chosen. 

Each year, Canada Reads chooses a theme; the 2024 theme is "one book to carry us forward."

• Sunshine Nails by Mai Nguyen 
• The Future by Catherine Leroux, translated by Susan Ouriou  
• The Innocents by Michael Crummey 
• The Winter Knight by Jes Battis 
• What Comes Echoing Back by Leo McKay Jr. 
• Woke Up Like This by Amy Lea 

The five panellists and the five books they choose to champion will be revealed on January 11, 2024.
