RBC Bronwen Wallace Award Announces Fiction and Poetry Finalists

The Writer's Trust of Canada has announced both the fiction and poetry finalists for this year's RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers. 

The prize celebrates outstanding, unpublished work by Canadian authors and has long been credited with discovering the country's greatest young literary talents early in their careers. This year marks the first time in its history that the two categories will be awarded together (they're traditionally given out alternately each year). Winners will take home $10,000 each. 

The announcement kicks off a week of emerging writer awards, including the unveiling of finalists for the Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ Emerging Writers and the Writers’ Trust McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize. Winners for all three prizes will be announced on October 21 during an online event entitled "Writer's Trust Awards: Emerging Writers Edition".

“During a year that has brought so much uncertainty and financial vulnerability to the country’s writing community, the Writers’ Trust is elated to have such generous support from the RBC Foundation to enable the expansion of this important program for young, developing writers,” said Charlie Foran, executive director, Writers’ Trust.
